RoHS: What’s it all about?

“RoHS” is the common name that has been given to the European Union (EU) Directive 2002/95/EC on the Restriction of the use of certain Hazardous Substances in electrical and electronic equipment.

The goal is to reduce human exposure to these materials through the ordinary use of the products and to reduce the amount of hazardous material introduced to the environment when the products are eventually recycled or disposed of. The RoHS directive requires the restriction of SIX substances; the four metals: lead (Pb), mercury (Hg), cadmium (Cd), and hexavalent chromium (Cr (VI)) and two groups of halogenated, organic flame retardants: PBBs (polybrominated biphenyls) and PBDEs (polybrominated diphenyl ethers).

RoHS Compliance Status

Pacific Wireless is supportive of the requirements of the European Parliament EU Directive 2002/95/EC on the Restriction of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment – also more commonly known as the “RoHS Directive”. We believe that while this standard is only for products being sold into Europe, the directives are beneficial to the world as a whole and therefore our entire product line has been redesigned to be compliant. As a long term designer and manufacturer of antenna products, Pacific Wireless has always sought to design and manufacture products with environmental conscience while maintaining high technical standards. Our current and future antenna products will conform to the RoHS Directives.
